Charles Russell’s fixed price package
By using our fixed fee package you can call us as many times as you want and ask as many or as few questions as you like. We offer you total peace of mind.

We usually charge 0.5% of the purchase price with a minimum fee of £1,800. This fee includes:

Review of the documentation provided
Meeting you to sign the ‘Compromis de Vente’
Liaison with Notaires, local authorities and estate agents
Report on title
Investigation into particular points raised

Tax and estate planning advice
Advice given by our tax and estate planning specialists is not included in the fixed price package. Such advice will be charged at the hourly rates of the lawyers involved.

VAT
VAT is not charged on our fees for the purchase of property in France. However, it is likely that VAT will be payable on our fees for any advice given by our tax and estate planning specialists.

The Notaire’s fees
The buyer is liable for the Notaire’s fees, which are fixed. If two Notaires are involved, one acting for the buyer and another for the seller, they share their fees.

The Notaire’s fees are approximately 7% of the purchase price for a property that is more than five years old. This is reduced to approximately 2.6% for a property that is less than five years old or bought off-plan:

Property more than 5 years old Property less than 5 years old or off-plan
Tax payable by the Notaire to the State 5.09% 0.715%
