Rural Business and Landed Estates
Charles Russell has always provided legal advice to farmers
and to owners of agricultural land. However, to meet today's
needs, the firm's Private Capital Group has now developed
a specialist team to provide practical and technical advice
for the owners of landed estates, farms and other rural businesses.
Much of the existing work of the group is undertaken for
clients in the South West. However the group also advises
a wide variety of farmers and owners of agricultural land
throughout England and Wales. Our clients (many non-UK residents)
include individuals, family trusts, farming companies and
partnerships, colleges, schools and other charitable bodies.
Charles Russell's Rural
Business and Landed Estates Team is able to advise on
all legal issues arising from the ownership of agricultural
land or the management of landed estates and agricultural
businesses, including the following:
Purchase and sale of estates and agricultural land
Estate and tax planning
Agricultural holdings and farm business tenancies
Contract and share farming
Quotas and subsidies
Heritage, planning and environmental issues
Land development and diversification
Cottage and estate properties
Charity land ownership
Employment matters
Matrimonial issues
Trespass, public and common rights
