How can mediation help us?

It is currently available to all divorcing and separating couples as an alternative voluntary forum for settling arrangements concerning property, finances, children and the divorce or separation itself. Mediators are trained social workers and/or lawyers experienced in family law. The mediator(s) act as impartial third parties and help the parties to reach their own joint decision. The mediation process is confidential. There are various different styles and models of mediation. Participants are advised to seek advice on all proposals from their own lawyers who will also draft the relevant Court documentation if agreement is reached. If you wish us to recommend a mediator we can do so. Three members of our department are trained mediators
