Charles Russell LLP acted on 82 deals in 2007 totalling over £3bn; an impressive rise on 2006's record haul of 79 deals for £1.1bn. In large part this was due to US corporate Yamana Gold instructing Simon Gilbert on the UK aspects of a share and cash offer for US listed Meridian Gold. A majority of the firm's other transactions were in the sub-£50m bracket.
